Legoland Discovery Center Westchester is partnering with ACDS Westchester, a special needs pre-school in Yonkers, and Merlin’s Magic Wand to launch Merlin’s Magic Spaces—a room specifically designed for children who can’t visit Legoland Discovery Center due to severe illness or disability. Merlin’s Magic Wand is a children’s charity that helps children facing various difficulties including serious illness, disability, or other adversities globally.
The innovative playspace is located inside the Yonkers pre-school, offering children at ACDS Westchester the ability to experience Lego play fun in a sensory-friendly, comfortable, and fun environment. The new space will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of the grand opening on Friday, Feb. 1 at 12pm.
Lego Duplo children’s bricks themes will be featured throughout the occupational therapy space, including a train track floor graphic, farm animals, and windmill. Kids can play with Lego Duplo bricks, an activity that can aid in the development of fine motor skills.
ACDS Westchester provides special education to children ages 3-5 with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental and intellectual disabilities residing within the 23 school districts of Westchester County.
