Rising Stars Performing Arts Company is currently enrolling students ages 8-18 for its summer musical theater workshop. Everyone who enrolls will get a part in a show, either The Wiz, Cabaret, or both.
Auditions will take place on the first day of camp, June 25, and are held strictly for casting purposes. Each session will offer enrollment for 40-50 kids with a flexible schedule, giving students the option of rehearsing with the “day cast” or “night cast.”
Mondays through Wednesdays the cast members will focus on dancing, signing, or acting, leaving Thursdays to combine their talents and hard work into a collective rehearsal. The final week of camp will be a rehearsal process that includes costumes, scenery, props, and makeup—making sure the young talent is well prepared and confident in their upcoming performances. The shows will be performed for the public at the end of each session.
Along with a polished performance, there are other benefits to the program for the participants, such as forming close bonds with one another. “That’s really what this workshop is about,” Rizzo says. “Creating friends in the arts.”
Each session of cast members will perform the productions twice. Enrollment is open until June 16, which is also the grand opening of the studio space.
