Kids Korner Preschool, a play-based school, has appointed a new administrative director to start off the new school year. At Kids Korner, the parents, children, and staff are all treated like family and share a close-knit bond, which is unique for a preschool in the city. The program is open to children ages 2-5 and includes activities such as music, dance, keyboard learning, and Spanish.
Since 1993, the preschool has been run by Yolanda Contrubis. Recently, Contrubis retired and her daughter Jennifer Contrubis Denza, a teacher at the preschool, was named administrative director and Kaity Kapetan was named assistant director.
Kid’s Korner is accepting applications for the school year, which starts the first week of September. The school offers a pre-kindergarten program that runs three, four, or five full days a week from 8:30am-4pm. There is another program specifically for 2- and 3-year-olds, which can be part-time 9am-12pm or 2:30-5:30pm, full time 8:30am-4pm, or the extended day 8:30am-5:30pm.
“Parents call us a gem in New York City,” Denza says. “It is difficult to find a close community that cares for each other like a family.”
Tours of the schools are available during office hours from 9:15am-4:30pm.
