IP Kids, an early learning program that prides itself on bringing a child-centered classroom to Brooklyn, opened its IP Montessori Preschool in August 2012. The new addition combines modified Montessori principles with a focus on interactive, hands-on methods that is intended to offer a classroom environment in which students, 2-5 years old, can learn various skills that will allow them to become independent at a young age.
“Parents love leaving their children here because they know that their child is getting a home away from home. The teachers here have a real passion for their work, helping the children adopt independent social and intellectual functions, and they treat the children as if they were their own,” says Josephine Gargano, director of IP Montessori.
Students will discover their own abilities and potential through a variety of subjects to include practical life, sensorial, English, Chinese, Spanish, math, science, geography, social skills, manners, critical thinking, music, dancing, computer, hand-writing, and art. “This is the age when children need to be taking on these skills and values,” Gargano says. “The more independent a student becomes at this level, the more successful he or she will be as they move forward with education.”
The staff works diligently to prepare children for upper-level public and private institutions with this world-wide teaching philosophy, high-tech equipment, passionate and experienced teachers, and a fun approach to learning and problem-solving.
