Come join the author of Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering, Dr. Sarah Buckley, at Reflections Yoga with Choices In Childbirth and BirthDay Presence on Thursday, September 18, from 10am to 5pm.
An expert on the hormonal physiology of childbearing, Dr. Buckley will speak on hormones involved in birth that help ease the process for both mom and baby, how medical interventions affect the natural hormonal processes of childbirth, and the specialness of the Hour After Birth, which helps initiate breastfeeding and attachment.
This workshop coincides with the much anticipated release of Dr Buckley’s report, “The Hormonal Physiology of Childbearing, produced in partnership with Childbirth Connections.” Don’t miss your chance to learn about the “Ecstatic Hormones of Undisturbed Birth,” and how oxytocin, beta-endorphin, adrenaline/noradrenaline and prolactin act to enhance, ease, pleasure, and keep mother and baby safe.
Attendees will also be able to investigate the impact of interventions, and see how induction, cesareans, and epidurals can disrupt this delicate hormonal orchestration, with significant side-effects for mother and baby. And finally, learn about how to enjoy the magic of the “Hour After Birth.”
This special workshop will be held at the new location of Reflections Yoga, right near the 6 train at 227 East 24th Street. Tickets are $160 each, but grab some friends and get three tickets for $420 special group discount. To purchase tickets, click HERE!
