With the theme “Living on the Edge: Surviving the Intertidal Zone,” the event is family-friendly and offers hands-on activities. The Ugly Duckling and The Tortoise and the Hare light up the stage, literally, in this production by Corbian/Lightwire Theater. Storybook characters are illuminated on the darkened stage, giving familiar stories a modern spin and a unique backdrop. The show is appropriate for children ages 6 and older.

Art comes in many forms — why not toys? In the exhibition Toy Stories, the work of 30 major artists who use toys is on display in a range of media. Nick Cave, Jeff Koons, and Alexander Calder are among the artists represented. Young and old can share in the experience of viewing everyday play items repurposed into eye-catching pieces of art. At Stepping Stones Museum’s Family Fun Night, the Cat in the Hat will make an appearance and children can enjoy storytelling, crafts, and a musical parade.

Everything is more fun at night, including A Night at the Peabody Museum. Families can visit the museum after hours and enjoy games, crafts, scavenger hunts, live animals, and some other surprises.
March 25
The annual WEBE 108 Kids Fest offers a variety of activities for everyone in the family. Kids can enjoy puppet shows, meeting characters like Elmo and the Easter bunny, face painting, and magic and dance demonstrations. For Mom and Dad, there are exhibition booths offering products and services meant to make life a little easier.

Kyle Brenn, a 14-year-old student from Norwalk, is no stranger to Broadway. He spent two years performing in the recent Broadway revival of West Side Story. Now his original musical, Silent Knight, is making its way to the Crystal Theatre. Kyle wrote the book, music, and lyrics for this production about Amber, a young tomboy living in medieval times who dreams of becoming a knight.
