Popovich Comedy Pet Theater

Audiences will howl with delight when Popovich Comedy Pet Theater takes the stage with European-style clowns, gravity-defying juggling and balancing acts, and a talented cast of performing pets who were all recruited off the street. Pups propel scooters across the stage and double-dutch jump rope, while cats perform feats of agility and balance that surpass even feline standards. The show isn’t limited to four-legged furballs, though—some recent additions to the cast include a gaggle of geese, a basketball-playing parrot, and a couple of extremely well-trained humans.
‘Martha Speaks’ on Stage

Who wouldn’t love to know what their pets are really trying to tell them? In Martha Speaks, Helen Lorraine finds out when her dog Martha is given the power of speech after she eats a bowl of alphabet soup. The play is based on the 1992 book by Susan Meddaugh and popular animated series on PBS.

Long Island Fleece & Fiber Fair

We often teach our children about where their food comes from, but how about their clothes? Take them to The Long Island Fleece & Fiber Fair, where they can witness the transformation of fiber as it is shorn from the animal and eventually made into a piece of fabric. Demonstrations include sheep herding and shearing, fiber dyeing, weaving, quilting, and other crafts that show from start to finish how a garment is made. Oh yeah, and don’t miss the llama obstacle course!
Kites for a Cure
Coopers Beach, Southampton
May 25
Take advantage of the ocean breeze and head to Coopers Beach in Southampton for Kites for a Cure. This fundraising event attracts more than 1,000 kite flyers each year. A donation of $30 gets your family a high-quality kite that can be decorated on site with pictures, names, wishes, or messages of love. Proceeds benefit United Against Lung Cancer’s national lunch cancer research grant program.
‘Seussical’ on Stage

All your favorite Dr. Seuss characters make an appearance in the family musical Seussical. Broadway veterans Lyn Ahrens and Stephen Flahery have created a production that takes everyone’s favorites stories and characters from Dr. Seuss and puts them together on the stage with The Cat in the Hat as the host and emcee.
Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach
Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh
May 25-26
The 10th annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, sponsored by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, will have a world-class lineup of civilian performers as well as a second-time appearance by the Royal Canadian Air Force Supersonic F18 Demo Team. Performances by the Geico Skytypers, John Klatt, David Windmiller, the Warbirds, and Sean Tucker, among many other aerobatic performers, will wow the audience with fast-paced maneuvers and unique capabilities.
