February is a fun month at the New York Transit Museum

Hop aboard for all types of fun at the New York Transit Museum throughout February.

Children of all ages can learn about one of the greatest transit system in the world in a variety of workshops and programs:

• Budding engineers 10 and older can operate a subway car simulator and travel the virtual miles of track every Saturday from 2 to 4 pm.

• Younger train buffs 2 to 5 years old can stop by the Motion Lab on Jan. 31, and Feb. 1, 7, and 8 from 11:30 am to noon to unlock the mysteries of motion.

• Get Kinetic on Jan. 31, and Feb. 1, 7 and 8 at 1:30 pm follows in the Rube Goldberg tradition and allows children 6 and older to assemble wacky and winding machines.

• On Feb. 8 the museum partners with Extreme Kids and Crew for another special day for families with special-needs children. The museum is open from 10 am to 1 pm and offers fun for everyone.

• On Valentine’s Day weekend (Feb. 14 and 15) as well as Feb. 21 and 22 at 1:30 pm, children 5 and older learn about the Verrazano Bridge in Very, Very, Verrazano, and build a model with towers, cables, and a realistic deck. The workshop is also offered during mid-winter break from Feb. 17, 18, 19, and 20 at various times.

• The museum is hosting Electricity Life and Curve City Lab during midwinter break at various times during the day for children of all ages.

The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center
