On October 13, Forever Families Through Adoption, Inc. (FFTA), an NY- and CT-authorized adoption placement agency and resource center, held its third annual gourmet food tasting and silent auction event, “An Evening at Crawford Park Mansion.” The event raised more than $25,000 for FFTA’s programming.
Located in Rye Brook, FFTA hosted the event closer to home this year. Executive director Joy S. Goldstein, LCSW, ACSW, who founded the agency in 2007 with her husband and adoption attorney Michael S. Goldstein, said the majority of donations came from local businesses and area merchants. “Everyone says that contributions to local charities are down this year due to a slow economy, but the commitment and generosity of local businesses has been truly amazing and has made a difference in the success of our agency and the important work that we do.”
Proceeds raised from ticket sales and the silent auction will enable FFTA to expand outreach efforts and offer a more comprehensive range of services in the community, including free educational programming to schools, hospitals, clinics, and prisons.
Several local restaurants prepared tasting dishes for the event, including Rye’s Morgan’s Fish House and Ruby’s Oyster Bar, Sonora in Port Chester, the Melting Pot in White Plains, and Blue Moon Café in Bronxville. The Wine Gallery in Rye Brook, All Star Imports in Yonkers, and Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Pleasantville provided beverages, and gourmet desserts were provided by Le Renaissance Patisserie Francaise of Scarsdale, Sweet Lisa’s of Cos Cob, Cerbone’s in Rye Brook, and Chocolations of Mamaroneck. Lively music for the evening was provided by local resident Kevin Lyden and The Stanwich Four. FFTA, founded and staffed by social workers, attorneys, adoptees and adoptive parents, believes that every child eligible for permanent adoption, regardless of racial or ethnic background, age, or physical or emotional challenge, has the right to grow up in a loving, nurturing, secure, and forever home.
