7 Things That Taste Better When You’re Pregnant

It’s no secret that pregnancy changes your eating habits, and not just by increasing late-night visits to the pantry. Certain foods taste more bitter while others actually taste better. And since so much about being knocked up is focused on what you can’t have—like certain soft cheeses, raw seafood, alcohol, and caffeine—I much prefer to focus on what I can enjoy. Right now, that includes seven delicious treats that I can’t keep my pregnant paws off of.

Crisp Salads
I had a terrible aversion to vegetables and anything healthy during the first three months of pregnancy, so I'm thrilled that my taste for greens has come back with gusto. These days, nothing gets my lunch bell ringing quite like a cool, crisp salad filled with crunchy veggies.
Lemonade
I've always loved homemade iced teas and lemonades (yellow, pink, you name it) but something about the citrusy-tart beverage just hits the spot harder now that I'm preggers. I limit myself to one glass per day because of the sugar content, but it's hard to turn down a cold cup of the sweet stuff in the summer heat.
Popcorn
This is one of those healthy snacks that's partially appealing purely because of how much you can eat in one sitting. Instead of nibbling on a small handful of potato chips, I can gorge on two or three heaping cups of popcorn and give myself a pat on the back for upping my fiber for the day. I try not to add too much salt, but a pinch or two is usually enough to give it just a kick of flavor.
Italian Ices
I'm usually more of a frozen dairy dessert lover, but the fruity Italian ices that I devoured as a child are tempting me like never before. I like to switch it up between cherry and lemon for an after-dinner snack.
Watermelon
This was the very first thing that I craved when I became pregnant back in the winter. It was a small challenge to find fresh, seedless watermelon in New York in December, but there's nothing quite as motivating as a newly pregnant woman's hunger.
Greek Yogurt
My growing bump has nearly zapped my desire for soups and other smooth or runny-textured foods, but I still enjoy Greek yogurt a few days a week. I like to top mine with granola (to add my much-preferred crunch) and fresh berries to make a small meal of it. It keeps me full for a few hours, which can be hard to do given my third-trimester appetite.
Pickles
I hate to be a complete pregnancy cliché, but pickles—sour, sweet, or spicy—have become one of my biggest obsessions. Since most deli sandwiches are off the menu for me, I can at least enjoy the spear that comes on the side!

Queens College Summer Camp

Running from Wednesday, June 28th through Tuesday, August 22nd, the Queens College Summer Camp continues to be the hallmark and cornerstone of the Athletics and Recreation Department and a staple of summer plans in the NYC metropolitan area. The camp, which has always followed New York State Board of Health guidelines, will conduct this summer's programs following current state guidelines, which follow CDC recommendations regarding COVID-19. The rest of the day will include sports activities on the fields and gym games. Indoor Gym Games include obstacle courses, scooter games, and a daily introduction to basketball and swimming for ages 5-6. The older kids will participate in group sports such as basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball, and swimming. The counselor will remain with the group through all activities, including lunch. Choose the Education Academy based on the grade they will enter in September.</li> <li>Theater Arts Programs&nbsp;provide instruction in singing, dancing, and acting, culminating in a performance. Past productions included Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and more.</li> <li>All Day Sports Academy&nbsp;provides instruction for developing generalized skills across various sports.</li> <li>Single Specialty Sports Camps&nbsp;provide individualized volleyball instruction by the college's coaches and varsity players.</li> <li>Counselor-in-Training Program&nbsp;A unique program created for teenagers focused on developing strong leaders.
