Mickey’s Music Festival. Disney songs are remixed to the sounds of hip-hop, pop, swing, reggae, rock, and country in this jam session that invites the audience to dance, sing, play air-guitar, and laugh along.
Discovery Quests Season Opening
Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Outdoor Discovery Center, Cornwall

Families are invited to learn about nature in a fun and interactive way when the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum hosts its first Discovery Quest of the season. Participants receive a guidebook, which sends them searching for clues along the nature center’s trails. Paths range from casual to challenging.

Superhero Pizza Party

Little superheroes can meet their favorite big superheroes—including the Man of Steel, the Caped Crusader, the Web Slinger, and more—at New Jersey Children’s Museum’s Superhero Pizza Party. Kids and their parents can also have dinner and dance to music by DJ Polka Dot. Ticket price includes two slices of pizza, beverages, snacks, dessert, entertainment, and playtime in the museum. Reservations are required.

Reading Education Assistance Dogs Training Session
Tolstoy Foundation, Valley Cottage

Hudson Valley Visiting Pets will host a Reading Education Assistance Dogs training session this month. Despite its name, the R.E.A.D. program accepts all kinds of animals, including cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and even horses, as reading companions for children. The international program has proven to help children build better literacy skills by reading out loud to these trained pets. This training session is for humans only (pet training is done separately), and it is open to pet owners as well as educators and librarians who want to learn more about the program. Teens may take the course with a parent/guardian. Registration is required by April 6; download the registration form at hudsonvalleyvisitingpets.com.
Autism Awareness Day
Bergen County Zoo, Paramus, NJ

Families affected by autism are invited to enjoy the Bergen County Zoo and learn about some of the many groups that provide autism services in the Bergen County area at Autism Awareness Day. This special event features free zoo admission, live animal demonstrations, free tours, crafts, and free train rides.
