History will be made on Oct. 30 when Real Life Superheroes (RLSH) gather for the largest ever annual conference of Superheroes Anonymous. And for the first time in the organization’s history, Superheroes Anonymous will be opening its doors to the public so that ordinary citizens can mingle alongside the Real Life Superheroes and inspire each other to take action in their communities, according to a press release.
The event, which is co-sponsored by The Peaceman Foundation, will promote the theme “Be the leader you want to see.” The event is designed to get people thinking about ways they can serve their country and community. Real life superheroes (RLSH) are ordinary citizens who perform public acts of good while dressed as unique superhero identities. Since the inception of Superheroes Anonymous, RLSHs have been featured in films such as the HBO documentary Superheroes and the upcoming Amazon Prime series The Legend of Master Legend starring John Hawkes.
At this year’s event, Superheroes Anonymous has partnered with a number of high-profile non-profits and organizations, including the FDNY, New York Blood Center, the homeless shelter CHiPS, the Gift of Life blood marrow donor program and more. Some of the programs featured will be:
- Homeless outreach patrols and LifePak creation
- Neighborhood watch workshops
- A how-to session on organizing activism
- Costume creation workshop
- Motivational seminars
- Opportunities to donate blood and to register for bone marrow and organ donation
“The goal of the conference is to inspire citizens to take action,” says Life, real-life superhero and co-creator of Superheroes Anonymous. “Americans have spent the summer preoccupied with what will happen to the country if one candidate loses or another wins. Our message is that the ultimate responsibility begins and ends with you, the citizen. It is up to you to be a leader, and what better way than by becoming a superhero?”
The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $20. While superhero attire is not required, it is highly encouraged. Capes and masks will be available at the door.
