The Yonkers Public Library is offering residents free admission to 11 museums and cultural centers in New York, including seven Manhattan museums, as part of its Museum Adventure Pass Program.
Yonkers residents who have a valid library card can now check out museum passes in addition to books at their local libraries. The Museum Adventure Pass Program allows you to reserve a pass to one of seven museums in Manhattan. They include:
- American Museum of Natural History
- Cooper Hewitt Museum
- El Museo del Barrio
- Frick Collection
- Guggenheim Museum
- Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
- Museum of Modern Art
Other participating museums and cultural centers in the New York area include:
- Hudson River Museum
- Katonah Museum of Art
- Neuberger Museum of Art
- Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture
Yonkers residents can reserve a pass for the date they will pick it up at the library. Only one pass may be reserved or borrowed by a patron at one time, and no more than two passes may be borrowed in a period of 30 days.
Passes must be returned to circulation desk at the branch where they were picked up (not the book drop). In most cases, passes are due back to the library by the close of business two days after check out (unless the library is closed that day).
Passes returned late will incur an overdue fine of $10 per day and if lost, replacement costs can be up to $750. Returning a pass to another branch or in the book drop will result in a $10 late fee, so plan ahead and check the library’s website for hours of operation.
Check out the Yonkers Public Library website to see which passes are available and to reserve passes online. Additional information about the museums is also available, including which exhibits are included and how many people are permitted per pass.
The Museum Adventure program runs through Aug. 9 and is available at all three branches of the Yonkers Public Library. Please check the Yonkers Public Library website for times and addresses.
