Hands high if you think we
live in the best city this side of the equator. Okay, so we’re a little biased
over here at New York Family.
Particular emphasis on the New York (but still a lot of love to go around for the fam.) Here are just a
few ideas on how to celebrate the island this weekend…just because. —
Only three days remain of
wicked (and wonderful) Wildflower Week. With naturalist events throughout the boroughs,
check out resident blooms with a family flora walk or hike.
Kids of all swim levels
can dive into Asphalt Green’s The Big Swim, a FREE public swim meet this
Saturday. Yes, there will be medals but also…Olympic swimmers in attendance.
Citibabes is hosting their
Spring Carnival on Saturday too! Get your adrenaline pumping in their bouncy
castle or grin goofy for the photoOp photo booth.
Aspiring poets (parents
too) will love hearing Children’s Poet Laureate Mary Ann Hoberman read at the
Tribeca Barnes & Noble.
Then there’s Brady Rymer,
who will be bringing his celebratory tunes to Brooklyn (Southpaw to be exact).
And for the animal
whisperers: don’t miss out on another character-filled weekend at the Bronx Zoo
(this weekend is all about Barney). Plus, there’s a stellar Sunday program
under the big whale at the American Museum of Natural History surrounding mother nature’s largest creatures.
