Flushing dance and fitness center Vibez Studio now offers Zumbini, a mommy and me Zumba classes, and inclusive Zumba classes for children with and without special needs ages 4-12. The 10-class Zumbini program offers a chance for mothers to bond with their child, as well as meet other mothers in the community.

Vibez Studio, a dance and fitness center in Queens, began offering Zumbini, a Zumba class for ages newborn to 3 and their caregiver, in September. The studio’s Zumba program for kids ages 4-12 is now inclusive of children with special needs, including autism.
Owner May Friedman says Zumbini is more of a Mommy and Me class rather than an exercise class. It involves dance, music, and games to help children bond with their mothers. “It’s convenient for working moms, so that they can spend the quality time with their children,” Friedman says. “[Participants] also meet other mothers and children in the community.”
The maximum size of the class is 12 child-caregiver pairs with one instructor. The class is held Tuesdays from 5:30-6:15pm—the day the class is held may change weekly. The current session of the Zumbini class runs through Nov. 26. Children can take the 10-class program, with a bonus class and a Zumbini Bundle—a songbook and two CDs. Registration is required.
Vibez Studio also offers a variety of other Zumba classes, including Zumba fitness, cardio belly dance, candle light yoga, and pole dancing, as well as private Zumba parties and special events.
