We’re 10 days into December and it feels as though everyone has already gone insane. How can a season intended to bring about so much joy be the reason for so much stress?! It’s easy to let this time of year get to you (the lines, the wish lists, the weather…ugh!) but try to take a deep breath, a small sip of peppermint chai tea, and remember what the holidays are really all about: family, memories, and the
true spirit of giving. See, that doesn’t seem so bad, right?! The twitterverse definitely knows it’s December, and you’re all abuzz with holiday cheer. Let’s see if I can spread some of my own good will by cheering on the top tweets of this week.

December is truly the busiest month (and happy early birthday — mine is the 21st!)
New Post: the story of the Nutcracker, according to the mom in the audience. It’s shorter than you remember. bit.ly/Rznn2j
— Liz Gumbinner (@Mom101) December 4, 2012
I have a very soft spot for the Nutcracker, probably because my own mom took me to see the ballet every single year when December rolled around, so the holiday season doesn’t feel complete without at least one viewing of the ballet. It doesn’t have to be a traditional viewing, though, and this mom’s rendition sounds absolutely perfect (and what cute ballerinas populating the story)!
I think we should all eat meringues more often.

If you’re going to suggest ingesting delicious food on a more regular basis, you’re not going to get any complaints out of me. Maybe some other grinch, but not this guy.
Smile people… going to be a great day! I vow to say hello to & smile at every person I pass@ Hotel Helix instagr.am/p/S270w2s-Xt/

Love this attitude! Sometimes the holidays feel more stressful than joyous, but we can often get back in the groove with a small change or the tiniest extra effort. Kudos to Ted for his vow of smiles!
I hate to be over dramatic but when my back starts to itch in my winter jacket and I’m zipped up with my seat belt, I feel like I will die.

I mean if my scarf isn’t positioned in the exact right spot on my neck then the tag of my coat starts stabbing me and I proceed to scream like a toddler, so someone somewhere might be judging you for this tweet but it ain’t me!
I forgot that having a Christmas Tree means that I am vacuuming a thousand times a day. Oy!
— Lauren Jimeson (@amommyinthecity) December 5, 2012
You could always skip the vacuum and insist the mess is part of your living room’s “holiday charm” right? …Right? Hm, no, I thought I wasn’t fooling anyone when I said that. Sigh.

Love this! Holidays don’t have to be about spending crazy amounts of money — the memories are what’s most important.

So good to see other publications and parents focusing on what the holidays are truly meant to be about. Let’s all make a promise to ourselves to remember the spirit of giving this holiday season…and I don’t just mean giving the cutest gifts to your kids!
You’re speakin’ our language! MT @_workingmother_: As you rush getting holidays “perfect,” take moment to realize almost perfect is great
— Sh*tty Mom (@ShttyMom) December 5, 2012
Can I get a HUGE “amen”?! If you keep this attitude during the holidays you’ll be filled with much less fear and way more cheer!
