World Maker Faire at New York Hall of Science

Fall is here! Hope everyone’s been enjoying the gorgeous, cool weather. This weekend, enjoy the most creative faire ever, big fun at the county fair, Bob the Builder exhibit, and much, much more.

 

STARTING FRIDAY

Who’s in the mood for medieval-themed dancing, singing, art projects, and games at Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine’s slumber party? Don’t let the bed bugs bite. (Friday)

 

STARTING SATURDAY

Reel in a big catch at the Go Fish! Festival in Battery Park City’s Wagner Park. Art projects, bird watching, a show of puppetry, music, and pictures–oh my! (Saturday)

Don your glitziest, most glamorous garb and get ready to groove–it’s Moey’s Back-To-School Princess Ball at Bloomingdales, with face painting and pom pom fun. Rock on! (Saturday)

Nothing evokes childhood like Aesops Fables. This weekend, tuck in with three live puppet renditions at the Toy Museum of NY.  Don’t forget the popcorn. (Saturday)

Get crafty at this week’s Super Sabado at El Museo del Barrio, where you can make art, enjoy storytelling, and learn some hot moves for the family after party. More here. (Saturday)

Registration for the RBC Race for the Kids in Prospect Park, kicking off Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play, is open until noon this Friday. Don’t miss this chance to get active for a great cause. (Saturday)

The World Maker Faire is back at the NewYork Hall of Science with inventions galore. Creative fams will love Mentos fountains, a life-sized mousetrap, magic shows, and crafty shopping. Get creative! (Saturday & Sunday)

The county fair at Queens County Farm Museum is one of the great family fun fests of fall with everything from pie eating contests and pig ricing to hayrides and corn mazes. Jump in! (Saturday & Sunday)

SUNDAY ONLY

For uplifting fun, head to Central Park for a Shinnyo Lantern Floating for Peace, celebrating the UN General Assembly’s mission–a harmonious world–with lantern making and live music. What’s not to love? (Sunday)

Love literature? The Brooklyn Book Festival is just for you, with bestselling author discussions and writing workshops and cartoonist face-offs galore. Get educated! (Sunday)

Dance it out at the first Westbeth Kids Groove Festival, featuring dance-worthy music from live performers just steps away from the Hudson River. Ready to jam? (Sunday)
