Dig out and dust off your ice skates and get the kiddos bundled up to take a lap or two on New York City’s most iconic ice-skating rink: The Rink at Rockefeller Center will officially open for the 2018-2019 season on Monday, Oct. 8 at 9am in Midtown Manhattan. Located on Fifth Avenue between 49th and 50th streets, the Rock Center ice rink will open with a ceremonial first skate hosted by rising child skaters from Ice Theatre of New York and Figure Skating in Harlem. It will be the first New York ice skating rink to open for the season.
The Rink at Rockefeller Center, originally designed as a temporary attraction for Christmas Day in 1936, is set to welcome more than a quarter of a million skaters this year. It will be open daily, 8:30-12am, from Columbus Day (Monday, Oct. 8) through Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019.
This season, an array of special experiences will include the classic traditions popular with the younger set, such as the popular Breakfast with Santa and Radio City Christmas Spectacular show, skate, and dinner package, and more. Looking for a new way to work out? Give the Tuesday and Thursday morning workout classes with two-time Olympian JoJo Starbuck a try. And for those parents looking for a memorable, seasonal date night, check out the Après Skate, late night Starlight Skate, or VIP Skate + Dinner at the Sea Grill packages.
For an additional fee, guests can get access to a VIP lounge called the Igloo. Located rink-side, the Igloo allows VIP guests to enjoy skip-the-line privileges, receive enhanced service with in-house skate concierges, and access a plush rest area with plenty of water, hot chocolate, and freshly baked cookies—a perfect treat for your kiddos after a spin on the ice!
The Rink also offers an array of packaged skating experiences in collaboration with rink-side restaurants Rock Center Café and The Sea Grill, both of which feature front-row, floor-to-ceiling views of the rink.
