The latest buzz in the parenting
blogosphere comes from none other than actress and NYC mom
Tina Fey, whose recent essay in the New Yorker "Confessions of a
Juggler" has been largely praised both for its frank honesty and sharp
wit. In the essay, Fey tackles the subject of only childhood (she and her husband
have one daughter, Alice, 5), and the prospect of having another child in the
peak (and as Fey argues, as a 40 year-old woman, the potential culmination) of
her career. —
If you haven’t read Fey’s essay, we highly recommend it (the summary is available online here, but you can only read the essay online with a subscription) and to also check out some of the reactions and praise it has earned from
other writers and parents. And if you are a parent of an only child in NYC, we
also recommend this story from New York Magazine, which argued that NYC is the
perfect city for families with one child.
