If you love Target as much as we do, here’s one more reason they will win you over.
By the end of 2018, all of the Target-owned brand foods and snacks for kids will be completely free of artificial flavors, preservatives, sweeteners, and colors, including artificial trans fats and high-fructose corn syrup, according to its website.
This announcement was made as part of Target’s 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility commitments and includes the company’s own brands, such as Simply Balanced fruit snacks and granola bars and Market Pantry fruit squeezers.
Additionally, Target will be rolling out new snacks, just in time for back-to-school season. Some of these products include Simply Balanced almond butters in dark chocolate and honey flavors later this month; oatmeal cups in maple brown sugar, triple berry, cran apple, and apple cinnamon flavors; and granola in protein vanilla, protein honey almond, protein peanut butter, ancient grains blueberry with flax, ancient grains cranberry chocolate with flax, and gluten-free dark chocolate coconut varieties.
As of now, Target has made 68 percent of its kids’ foods free from artificial ingredients. Parents can expect to see macaroni and cheese, fruit snacks, animal crackers, and more free from preservatives, artificial flavors, sweeteners, and colors.
Target met and exceeded other goals in this report, including increasing organic food offerings by 25 percent and enhancing at least 50 Target-owned brand packaging designs to be more sustainable.
