Summer Day Camp in Riverdale Grand Opening in June

Manhattan College’s Summer Day Camp is designed to advance the interests and creativity of children in five areas: math, science, arts, computers, and reading. The on-campus program will take place from Monday, June 25 to Friday, August 17 between 9am and 5pm.

“The program combines fun with learning as children will participate in activities designed to help them develop new skills, try out new hobbies and make long-lasting friendships,” says Edgar Zavala, program operator and director of non-credit programs at the College. “We plan to offer a unique experience, combining the vast resources of a higher education institution with recreational and learning-based activities that will keep kids engaged all day.”

Campers will have access to the same resources that more than 3,800 current students use to prepare them for their future at Manhattan College. This includes quad spaces, classrooms, computer labs, and the library.

“I see this summer camp as something that will become a tradition for students in the Riverdale area,” says Ellie Siwicki ’18, director of Manhattan College’s Summer Day Camp. “Manhattan College has so many great resources to offer, so why not extend them to the local community and make students aware of the possibilities that Manhattan College holds? As part of our Lasallian mission, we strive to promote quality education and inclusive communities. I believe that both of these aspects are achieved through this summer camp, and I can’t wait to see it come to life this summer.”

Manhattan College will host several open houses for parents in room 100 of Hayden Hall on campus: Tuesday, April 24, 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 6 p.m.
