Steffi Nossen School of Dance adds a new toddler class and children’s summer camp to locations in Westchester.
Dancing Tots, a six-week program for caregivers and children ages 1-3, is held at Steffi Nossen School of Dance locations in Chappaqua and White Plains. The toddler class focuses on the development of motor skills and musicality while accompanied by caregivers.
“One of the focuses of Dancing Tots is being in a classroom environment. Most kids at that age haven’t had that classroom environment, and this is a way for them to get it, but still feel nurtured and have their parent there so it makes them feel more comfortable,” says Kristina Todd Nelson, manager of Steffi Nossen School of Dance.
Story Book Camp, a five-session summer camp for kids ages 3-5, will be held in White Plains. The summer camp uses a different children’s story—such as Sleeping Beauty or Peter and the Wolf—as the theme each week to interpret into movement, music, and art. Children can attend one or more of the five sessions.
“I hope the takeaway is the love of dance and the love of moving because our goal is to help them [children] feel safe and to be able to create movements,” Nelson says.
Steffi Nossen School of Dance was founded in 1937 by professional dancer Steffi Nossen. It offers classes and performance opportunities for dancers of all ages and abilities.
