Start Fresh

If you’ve given up on
getting kids to munch on vegetable chips instead of French fries, or if you’re weary
from dealing with a picky eater—don’t despair! We know of a new cookbook that
might just get your little ones hooked on healthy eating. —

Start Fresh, by organic baby food Sprout owner Tyler Florence, gives parents
step-by-step instructions on how to get kiddies to love healthy meals. His secret? It’s
all about creating tasty dishes with textures that little ones will respond
well to—from creamy to smooth—and introducing new flavors with
patience and enthusiasm. Follow Florence’s instructions and your tots will be eschewing
frozen fish sticks in favor of baked halibut ones (seasoned with thyme and sweet
pickle relish) in no time!

Florence’s cookbook starts with recipes for making your own
baby food and continues with tips and tricks on helping toddlers have fun in
the kitchen (yes, it’s okay if they make pots and pans into drums!). His goal?
To make kids into lifelong, nutritious foodies.

The key is to start young:
Florence explains, introduce your baby to asparagus in a
silky smooth puree, and she might just be hooked for life. But don’t worry if
your tykes are already enamored with burgers. Florence says it’s never too late to get kids (or grown ups!)
excited about good-for-you meals. With clever ideas like making barbecue turkey
meatloaf in the shape of cupcakes with mashed potato frosting and adding butternut
squash to mac and cheese—Start Fresh offers
a new approach to teaching kids to truly love food.

Hey, you may never have to
deliver dinner via the “choo choo train” spoon again.

New York Family wants to help things get cookin’! We have 10 copies of Start Fresh to dole out. Interested? Email us at [email protected] with the subject line “Start Fresh” and be sure to include your contact information. Deadline to enter is Friday, September 9.
