Say It With A Poem

There’s no better time to introduce kids to the power of poetry than National Poetry Month, which is celebrated throughout April. To get you in the mood, here are a few reads we’d like to recommend: “Poems on Fruits & Odes to Veggies,” a cute homage to healthy eating by NYC author Judith McLaughlin, who’s also available to do readings at local schools ($14.95; judithnatellimclaughlin.com); “Someone Used My Toothbrush and Other Bathroom Poems,” a new book by Carol Diggory Shields with 21 poems sure to elicit some giggles ($16.99); and Shel Silverstein’s classic, “Where the Sidewalk Ends” ($18.99), which has been captivating kids for over 30 years.
