The Rose Academy of Ballet is adding new programming to its summer camp line up.
The academy will be adding screenwriting workshops to its summer day camp curriculum. In creating the new class, owner and director Melissa Wilson was inspired by the Vivian Paley philosophy for early childhood learning through effective storytelling and fantasy play. The new screenwriting class is designed to unlock children’s creativity and communication skills in a playful performing arts environment. The screenwriting class is designed to teach literacy through the arts. Students are taught to be collaborative, innovative in how they problem solve, and incorporate other forms of artistic expression they have learned.
This additional program complements the existing camp programming which includes ballet, tap, yoga, singing, drama, and art. The end of the program cumulates with a final performance where children present their work. The program is crafted for children ages 3-7, and scheduling is flexible.
Also new at The Rose Academy this year is an expanded schedule for Tippy Toes and tap dance classes. Tippy Toes is a beginning movement class designed for 2-year-olds and their adult companions. New class times are available on the website. Other popular classes at The Rose Academy include pre-ballet for children 3-5, ballet for children 6 and older, and open ballet and tap for adults.
