Sprouts Gardening at Nelson A. Rockefeller Park

Kids will learn all about planting seeds, watering, garden
upkeep and, most importantly, picking and eating your veggies! Other activities
will include arts & crafts and picture books.

Wednesday, May 30

The
Strand’s 85th Anniversary Party

828 Broadway

5-6:30pm

Ben Bass first opened the Strand Book Store on Book Row in
1927. Along Book Row, there were many bookstores and book carts, but 85 years
later, just the Strand remains. Come and celebrate the Strand’s birthday with
Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen and surprise literary guests. There will be prizes and cake!

World Science Festival

Near Washington Square Park

Event times vary

Sparking interest and making science fun is the goal of the
World Science Festival. The Kaye Playhouse will host a career forum, where
kiddos can learn about cool science careers. Find out about the endless black
hole with a performance of Icarus
at the Edge of Time
. And don’t miss the famous Street Science Fair at
Washington Square Park for various demos and stations, including building your
own volcano. Festival takes place May 30 through June 3.

FIAF’s
Bon Voyage Workshop at the Jacadi Madison Avenue Boutique

1242 Madison Avenue

4-5pm

This
travel-themed arts & crafts workshop features the project of creating a
large, colorful map using monument images from countries such as Switzerland,
Morocco and France. Children will also learn some French travel songs and
vocabulary. Parents can receive 10 percent off purchases made during this

Saturday, June 2

Zoe Gets Ready! Reading at the
Scholastic Store

Mini style mavens and clothing enthusiasts can gather in
their finest fashions for a reading of the new picture book, Zoe Gets Ready! Ages
4 and up can strut their stuff to show off their outfits and then review styles
themselves during a paper doll runway show.

Sunday, June 3

Farm
in the City Festival at the 14th Street Y

344 East 14th Street

10am-1pm

Families can enjoy carnival rides (including everyone’s
favorite: the bouncy castle); a petting zoo with rabbits, chickens and more;
live music; and even a real beekeeping exhibit! For the littler ones, there’s a
farm-toy filled playroom. A farm stand will feature lunch, treats and drinks.
