It’s finally a comfortable temperature outside! What great timing, considering our favorite events this week all take place outside. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for not too much rain. In the meantime, here’s what’s doing this week in the city:

SpaceFest 2013
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

Travel through space with the Intrepid Museum during their second annual SpaceFest, a four-day extravaganza dedicated to space education. Highlights include NASA tours and exhibits, plus displays and demos from the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Liberty Science Center, Madame Tussauds, and others. Also on offer: presentations by visiting astronauts, a screening of “Star Trek” (Friday, July 26), and Astronomy Night (Saturday, July 27). Free with museum admission. Astronomy Night will be held weather permitting; participants must RSVP.

Thunderbird American Indian Mid-Summer Pow Wow

The Thunderbird American Indian Mid-Summer Pow Wow is back at Queens County Farm Museum! This year, the Pow Wow will feature a three-day Native American dance competition (with over 40 tribes participating), handmade arts and crafts, jewelry, and traditional food. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under.

Lincoln Center Out of Doors: Family Day

This Saturday, join Lincoln Center for Family Day, part of its three-week cultural celebration, Out of Doors. Families will enjoy free performances from the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, the Pannonia Quartet, and world-class musician Elena Moon Park. Craig Woodson will teach kids how to make their own instruments, and Kronos will lead a “play-along” interactive concert. Finally, head over to Damrosch Park Bandshell for a Dan Zanes & Friends concert and the New York debut of OzoKidz, Ozomatli’s new band geared for children. Free.

Hip Tot Family Day

Head over to Brooklyn’s Greenwood Park on Sunday for an afternoon of free music, snacks, and more. During Hip Tot Family Day, kids will have a blast with activities and goodies provided by Plum Organic Camp Snacks, a musical performance from Amelia Robinson of Mil’s Trills, and a book reading and signing by children’s author Melanie Hope Greenberg. Free.
