Physical Therapy Options, a physical therapy clinic in Garden City, has expanded its practice for pediatric clients by adding a pediatric therapy room designed specifically for pediatric patients and expanding its programming.
The pediatric room at Physical Therapy Options opened early September and serves as a space for pediatric patients to work 1-on-1 with a licensed physical therapist. It has been decorated with bright colors and filled with educational toys.
“We try to make it fun so that the kids can have a positive experience with physical therapy,” says Lisa Coors, P.T., D.P.T., clinical director and owner.
Physical Therapy Options also expanded its programming for pediatric patients who require physical therapy for gross motor delays through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). “It is truly my pleasure to have the opportunity to expand the business for this population,” Dr. Coors says. “It is quite fulfilling to watch the impact physical therapy has on children with gross motor delays.”
Physical therapy can help children with gross motor delays work on their Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, which are distinct to a patient’s needs. For example, Dr. Coors says, a child may need help learning to walk up stairs or learning how to jump forward, so in physical therapy they will work with the child on that area.
