Perdue is recalling more than 68,000 pounds of gluten-free chicken nuggets due to a possible wood particle contamination, according to Cooking Light. The nuggets have expirations dates well into the fall and the United States Department of Agriculture is urging shoppers to check their freezers for this product.
The chicken nuggets are labeled with the UPC bar code “72745-80656,” according to the USDA. The chicken was produced in October 2018 and the expiration date is Oct. 25 2019. If you have this product, you are advised to dispose of the product or bring it back to the store for a refund.
No cases of illness do to the wood contamination have been reported, however the USDA asks those who have potentially consumed these particles to consult their doctor.
Perdue launched the voluntary recall out of caution and does not expect any additional customers to be affected by wood bits, according to CNN. A minimal amount of packages were affected.
