Over the Moon Music and More, which offers Music Together®, is expanding its Scarsdale location and offering more classes, as well as birthday parties.
Musicality is “inborn in all of us,” says Jackie Freimor, an owner and director at Over the Moon Music and More in Scarsdale. While aptitude differs in each child, Freimor says, the ability to make music is something innate in all children. “Everything we do in class is a musical exercise of some kind. It’s just that because we’re playing, the children don’t know it.”
Over the Moon Music and More has been tapping into this musical ability since 2005, and opened its Scarsdale storefront in 2009. Construction is underway to expand the storefront by 3,000 square feet, and the annex is scheduled to open its doors in August to provide more classes and programs to Westchester families.
Over the Moon Music and More will continue to offer Music Together®, a parent-child class for children ages newborn to 5 that teaches basic music competence through parental modeling. These classes and the other familiar offerings from Over the Moon, such as Guitar for Grownups and parent-child ukulele class, will be kept in the original storefront. After construction, the new space will include three party rooms and a large play space. Parents will be able to buy daily or multi-use passes for the play space, which will include stations for imaginary play, costumes, and a puppet theater.
In addition, new classes will be brought to the new space, including parent-child art and yoga classes, a parenting class for parents of babies younger than 4 months, birthday parties, and mini camps. Freimor says these new additions will help further Over the Moon’s mission of providing a fun and safe environment for families to play together.
