On The Blogroll: The Mama Maven

The NYMetroParents blogroll features the best blogs in the parenting world, from New York and beyond. Here’s a closer look at why we love these mom bloggers and dad bloggers and how they’re shaping the web for parenting today.

Blogging From: New York, New York

The Mama Maven, Nancy Johnson Horn, started her mom blogging career five years ago at what is now People.com’s Moms and Babies. A mother of three, the self-titled Mama Maven is just that, an expert on all things kids in the five boroughs of New York City.

Struggling with her son’s picky eating, Nancy gives readers yummy tips, tricks and recipes to incorporate your picky eater’s habits into your daily life. Ranging from Super Picky Eater, i.e vegetarian that isn’t a fan of veggies, to a Better Eater, Nancy has had her hands full trying to keep her children’s mouths full.

More than just food, her background in product reviews has led her to blog about the latest and greatest on the mom market. From children’s clothing, to birthday parties, the latest kid-oriented movies and fun new inventions, Nancy and her team of contributing bloggers have the scoop. Nancy and her fellow Mama Maven bloggers all have multiple kids of varying ages, so their opinions and experiences reach every mom at every level.

Nancy has become a social media butterfly, contributing to a variety of blogs, keeping up with her own, and starting Trumpeting Media with three other mom bloggers. Their goal: use social media for the social good. This blogger wears many hats, but the most important one is Mom. — Laura Brothers
