The mother of three has been blogging about her experience raising her autistic son, Leo, since 2003. Although Shannon and her family live in San Francisco, her message and stories are relatable no matter where her readers live. Shannon shares intimate moments and keeps fans up-to-date with Leo’s development, as well as reviewing books and movies, interviewing interesting people relating to autism, and even sharing her experience with using the iPad to further her son’s development.
Shannon’s writing has been featured and quoted in numerous publications, and she frequently speaks and moderates at conferences for special needs. Her strong presence on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook also gives readers a chance to communicate and follow Shannon along with her blog. While all parents may not be able to directly relate to what she goes through with her son, everyone will be able to learn a bit more about autism and this incredible family.
