On The Blogroll: NYC Taught Me

The NYMetroParents blogroll features the best blogs in the parenting world, from New York and beyond. Here’s a closer look at why we love these mom bloggers and dad bloggers and how they’re shaping the web for parenting today.

Blogging From: New York, New York

Sharon Beesley moved from San Francisco to Manhattan two years ago and hasn’t looked back. This stay at home mom turned mom blogger turned aspiring journalist has a daughter and twin boys to keep track of as they discover all that Manhattan has to offer. NYC Taught Me is Sharon’s homage to the city she and her children fall in love with each day.

As Sharon documents the daily lives of her, her husband, but mostly her three children, through photographs and text, readers get a true glimpse into their adventures. Sharon gives readers tips and tricks for amusing children, dressing them and handling their whims, by sharing her personal experiences. She’s not afraid to try new things or break the rules, making her blog an entertaining read. Follow Sharon as she leaves her 20s behind and takes solo trips, family vacations and learns to love her adopted hometown.

Sharon’s love of photography is displayed in the brightly colored, myriad of shots that are the focal point of her posts. Her willing, and very photogenic, kids are the main subjects, but skylines and food are close seconds. Up close or far away, her photos capture their subjects in a candid and engaging way.

Whether you’re discovering the city alongside her, or have been a city-dweller all your life, Sharon’s recaps are not to be missed. Join Sharon’s adventures with her charming children as they bounce, jump and run around Manhattan and the outer boroughs, visiting their favorite places and finding new ones.
