The Noguchi Museum’s Vision

The Noguchi Museum in Queens, New York, was founded in 1985 by the renowned Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988). It was the first museum in the U.S. designed by a living artist to display their own work. The museum is home to the largest collection of Noguchi’s pieces, including sculptures, models, and personal items, set in both indoor and outdoor spaces within a converted industrial building and a peaceful sculpture garden.

Since its opening, the museum has been a hub for Noguchi’s research, showcasing a wide range of his works and hosting special exhibitions and collaborations that offer a deeper look at his art and lasting influence.
