New York Family’s Weekend Planner August 20-22

Looking for some great
family adventures this weekend? Check out our weekly newsletter! Every
week we scour the city for the best kid-approved exhibits,
performances, festivals and more, pick our favorites and send them out
each Thursday, just in time for the weekend.
This week we’re especially excited about some great outdoor movie screenings (like "Annie" at Hudson River Park and "Rocky" on the Intrepid, to name a few!) the Summer Streets celebration on Park Avenue on Saturday, the Watson Adventures Harry Potter Scavenger Hunt at the Met, and the FLY NY Festival at Riverside Park.—

Seeing rain in the weekend’s forecast? To keep your kids dry, happy and having fun, we put together a big list of indoor destinations to consider; including a high-tech kids paradise, the coolest family cafe in the city, a great new crafts store, a weaving wonder, a very big glass house, and on and on. And if it doesn’t rain– but it’s really humid and disgusting out, and you’re looking for a good air conditioned adventure– the list still works.

Of course, if the clouds clear and it turns out to be a beautiful day, we have plenty of ideas for fair-weather fun, from tips to making spectacular sandcastles to deliciously simple BBQ recipes, local water parks, to inspired ideas for warm weather dates

to our
editor’s own guide to enjoying
Coney Island with kids.

Happy weekend!
