NCNW to Host 2nd Annual STEAM Summit

On Saturday, April 27, 2019 the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) will host the 2nd Annual Northeast STEAM Summit and HBCU Expo. NCNW is a national organization dedicated to lead, advocate for and empower women of African descent, their families and communities.

The event will include workshops, panel discussions, representatives from HBCU colleges and more to provide education about STEAM careers and a glimpse of life at an HBCU. The event is targeting middle and high school students, in addition to parents, teachers and school counselors. We are expecting to draw over 700 attendees.

The event was a success last year.

“This event was incredible. I’ve been trying to get my son interested in STEM and the interactions he had changed everything,” L. Parker, the parent of a high school freshman, said. “Best event ever!”

Students said the event helped them make new connections.

“I met a lot of college kids. It made me think about what it would be like to go to college and how I could be successful,” said high school sophomore M. Grant.
