Long Island author Dr. Francesco J. Caputo’s children’s book, which teaches kids about nutrition and healthy eating, was inspired by his daughter.
In his new children’s book Diana the Organic Banana (AuthorHouse), author and Bethpage resident Francesco J. Caputo, DCM, draws from his background as a personal fitness trainer, fitness and nutritional counselor, and motivational speaker to bring awareness about healthy eating to kids and parents.
Named after Dr. Caputo’s daughter Diana, Diana the Organic Banana is meant to inspire both children and adults to live a healthier lifestyle by making wise dietary choices. Dr. Caputo recognizes that it’s easy to get caught in the cycle of eating fast food or other unhealthy foods, he says, but he urges people to work hard to stop the rise in obesity.
“My goal is to have my book and [its] healthy characters in every type of doctor’s office, in schools, and a part of everyone’s family,” says Dr. Caputo, a doctor of chiropractic medicine whose office is located in Plainview, NY.
“We as parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals need to take charge of our children’s health,” Dr. Caputo says. “Also, we must set an example by eating healthy and staying fit, and not letting social media influence us into consuming unhealthy products.”
