Dance Treatment dance studio in Mineola now offers Zumba classes tailored to typically developing children and children with special needs. A Zumba class for cancer survivors is also offered to prevent recurrence through fitness.
Dance Treatment dance studio now offers Zumba classes just for kids. The owner, Beth Levine, says she started the class because she wanted to provide a fun way for kids to become interested in fitness. Dealing with weight issues growing up, Levine understands the struggles of childhood obesity and the competitive nature of sports, so she found a fun way to turn kids on to the idea of fitness and nutrition.
“There is a freedom of expression with Zumba,” Levine says. “The kids love it.”
The studio currently has two classes for kids ages 4-12 in a neon room decorated just for them. Levine also works with children with special needs, and says the kids have a lot of fun with it. Birthday parties are available and are two hours long. Levine caters them to the age group of the kids with Zumba, karaoke, and a goody bag.
Dance Treatment also provides classes for cancer survivors as a way of rehabilitation. Levine is a registered nurse of oncology and started the program for survivors to feel good again and prevent recurrence through fitness, specifically Zumba.
