Great news for those who have an IDNYC or are looking to get one—you will be able to get a free year of membership at 40 of New York City’s museums, performing arts centers, concert halls, botanical gardens, and zoos in all five boroughs.
The free municipal ID is a government-issued card for New York City residents ages 14 and older, and was introduced by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Last year, cardholders were offered free membership to 33 institutions around the city. This year more benefits have been added, such as free membership to BRIC Arts | Media, Metropolitan Opera, Museum of Chinese in America, Museum of Modern Art, New Museum, Pregones Theater, and Guggenheim Museum.
Discounts will now be offered for Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York shows, New York Theatre Ballet performances, Roundabout Theatre Company productions, Citi Bike membership, and adoption fees for cats, dogs, and rabbits at Animal Care Centers of New York.
The card will be free for all holders until December 31, 2016. For a complete list of IDNYC benefits, see their website.
