Holiday Fun: Skating & Shopping At Bryant Park’s Winter Village

Skaters enjoying the rink at Bryant Park

Bryant Park–a city icon that often conjures images of Fashion Weeks past and a certain sense of whimsical sophistication–is once again setting up shop for the holidays with a skating rink and the Bank of America Winter Village (consisting of options for dining, drinking, and shopping for gifts). Despite a recent brush with unexpected violence, the park seems to be right on track for a festive, and safe, holiday season. And nothing proved that more than their recent Winter Village Kickoff Event!

Festive decor inside the Parka Lounge

Complete with a pop-up VIP Parka Lounge–which featured tasty treats, a hot chocolate bar (with plenty of sweet toppings for little ones and optional libations for grownups), and festively chic holiday decor (think shimmering silver accents and cheeky faux-rustic details)–to complement skating fun and holiday shopping.

Of course, NYC boasts plenty of options for ice skating and holiday shopping, but what makes Bryant Park’s offerings so special is the sense of intimacy and sophistication–the rink is on the smaller size, and the park is nestled perfectly in the shadow of many of the city’s most iconic buildings, so the delight of New York at night adds to the overall festive effect. Plus, with Ice Bites (in the skating pavilion), Celsius (2-stories, rinkside), ‘wichcraft, Southwest Porch, and Bryant Park Grill are all on hand to provide gourmet eats to suit any palette and any age group, while the 125 glassed-in holiday boutiques turn the annual task of gift shopping into a whole new (and very fun) experience!

Our associate editor Mia Weber (left) strikes a pose on the ice (while trying not to topple over on her skates!)

And the icing on the proverbial cake of last Tuesday’s kickoff? When skaters cleared the ice at 8pm, one romantic New Yorker took center stage and popped the question to his lady love–talk about a romantic start to the holiday season!
