Halloween 2015: Embellished Ball Jars

Decorate Ball jars or any Mason jars with ribbon, Washi tape, chalkboard tape (if you don’t have chalk on hand, a white colored pencil works too), or strips of glittery crafting paper. Once complete, they make a great drinking glass for guests (fill them with orange soda for a festive look) as well as a take-home favor. Patterned paper straws add a festive touch.

For this project, we used:

*Little B Gold Foil Chevron Tape

*Scotch Expressions Washi Tape

*Scotch Chalkboard Tape

*Celebrate It! ribbons from Michael’s (orange & silver)

*Glitter craft paper strips from Michael’s

*For the name tags: Fiskars Label/Simple Double Tag Maker ($29.99 at fiskars.com)

*Tombow Adhesive Dispenser

Make 'em!
Once you've gathered together a set of Ball jars or Mason jars, use the materials pictured here (and listed above) to decorate and personalize. Washi and chalkboard tape will stick on the glass, but for the ribbon, use a Tombow Adhesive Dispenser. Photo by Andrew Schwartz.
Personalize em!
For the name tags, use the Fiskars punch (try both of the tag shape options for a bit of variety) on the glitter paper or chalkboard tape. We used colored sharpies on the paper tags and a white colored pencil on the chalkboard tape. Photo by Andrew Schwartz.
Fill 'em up!
Use your finished jars as drinking glasses or as vessels for take-home candy. Since each guest will have one with their name, you won't have to worry about cup mix-ups! Orange soda makes for a festive Halloween beverage and patterned paper straws add a fun touch. Photo by Andrew Schwartz.
