Anyone who knows me can tell you that I will jump at any excuse or opportunity to eat cake. So when it occurred to me that I was nearing the 20-week mark and that meant that we are halfway through this pregnancy and therefore halfway to meeting our baby, I thought what better way to commemorate this very special milestone than by eating half of a cake?
So I stopped by one of my favorite neighborhood bakeries and fell for the darling little Valrhona chocolate cake shown here. I brought it home, we cut it in half and dug in.
A few days later, I received the following message in an email from BabyCenter.com:
“You’re halfway there. Hooray! Celebrate by splurging on a pedicure, a prenatal massage, or a new outfit that shows off your baby bump. Now’s also the time to hang out with friends and go on a babymoon.”
Oops, I thought. Those are all healthy things. I just ate half of a cake.
In any case, I can’t believe how quickly the first half of this pregnancy has flown by. Do you like to celebrate little (or big) pregnancy milestones? How?
