Middle schoolers in Brooklyn have a growing after school alternative. Groundwork, Inc., based in East New York, has expanded its middle school offerings after receiving a three-year, $225,000 grant from New York Life Foundation. Groundwork offers free programming, including tutoring and homework help; athletics; and the arts. The new initiative trains neighborhood high school and college students to work with their younger peers. For information, go to www.groundworkinc.org. (Posted 12/06)
