Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge will open a satellite Early Childhood Center in Tarrytown in September, bringing its unique curriculum to Westchester County.
Nursery and Kindergarten classes, for children ages 3 to 6, will be offered during the 2011-12 school year, along with Parent & Child classes (for babies and toddlers ages birth to 3, along with their caregivers) and workshops for parents. Offerings will include the school’s popular Simplicity Parenting group, based on the best-selling book of the same name by Kim Payne, led by a Green Meadow faculty member who is also a certified Simplicity Parenting coach.
The Waldorf philosophy encourages direct experience with lesson material and introduces subject matter in an age-appropriate fashion in order to help children express their individuality and find joy in learning.
