Grand St. Settlement Is Bringing Free, High-Quality Early Childhood Programs to More Families Across the City

Grand St. Settlement, a trusted nonprofit that has served New York City families since 1916, is expanding its early childhood education programs to meet growing community needs across the city. Later this year, the organization will open five brand-new early childhood education centers—four in The Bronx and one in Sunset Park, Brooklyn—making it even easier for local families to access free Head Start and Early Head Start programs close to home.

Grand St. Settlement has been supporting New York City families for more than 100 years, and its early childhood centers do more than just provide a safe, nurturing space for children ages 0–5. They offer a full range of services designed to support both kids and parents, like early learning and development, family advocacy, parenting workshops, and help with housing, employment, and more.

Enrollment is now open for the 2025–2026 school year, and programs are free for eligible families. Children benefit from enriching, play-based learning environments, nutritious meals, and developmental screenings, while parents gain a supportive, nurturing community for their little ones.

These new centers also bring new job opportunities to the community. Grand Street is hiring for various full- and part-time roles, from teachers and classroom assistants to family workers and site directors. Perks include generous paid time off, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, professional development, and a $3,500 sign-on bonus for eligible staff.

The communities where the new Grand St. Settlement will open will be stronger because they will create more opportunities for children to succeed, parents to grow, and neighborhoods to flourish. These centers aren’t just programs; they’re pathways to brighter futures, built right where families need them most.
