Gold Material Montessori School, founded in 2004 as an independent private school, has expanded to three locations, the newest of which is opening in Kips Bay this month. The school can accommodate 70 children and will be open seven days a week from 8:30am to 9pm. It will offer an overnight program, as well.
The school’s goal is to give parents who work shifts-not just parents who work traditional hours-a viable option for providing their children with quality education. “Sometimes parents are excluded from traditional care because they don’t work traditional hours,” says Maksim Kondrukevich, educational director of the school. “Our primary focus is providing quality preschool education to the children.”
The school accepts children ages 2 through 6 and uses a Montessori approach combined with other modern educational techniques to provide a unique brand of education. “We approach each child differently,” says Kondrukevich. “We see what he’s capable of doing. We work in specific areas to fill the gaps so the child grows and develops without having problem areas, so he can move forward with his education at the correct developmental pace. We work with children in the way that they will love to learn in their life.”
