Greek Festival

The Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church will again host its Greek Festival, which is said to be the largest cultural festival in Rockland County. This popular annual event features Greek food and beverages (including wine and beer for parents), music, dancing, crafts, and amusements for children. In short, you’ll find just about everything except the sun, sand, and scenery of the Greek Isles.
World Oceans Day at Bergen County Zoo

Summer is for swimming, and swimming makes us think of all the things that live in the seas. Little ones can learn all about sea creatures when the Bergen County Zoo celebrates World Oceans Day, an international initiative to celebrate creatures that live in the oceans and highlight the need to protect their environment. Zoo visitors can check out tidal tank demos, ocean-themed stories and crafts, and live animal demonstrations.
Native New Jersey Canoe Day
Tenafly Nature Center, Tenafly, NJ

The Tenafly Nature Center invites families with children ages 9 and older to Native New Jersey Canoe Day, when they can celebrate the start of summer with a scenic canoe ride on Pfister’s pond, a once-a-year treat. This special event also includes short family hikes, live animal encounters at the nature center’s salamander pond, and seasonal crafts. Bring a picnic lunch.

This popular, summertime event is held each Wednesday evening through the summer. Pets are welcome. 6-9pm. $4 per car. Summer Celebration at Bear Mountain Zoo

Budding artists can stop by the Bear Mountain Zoo on June 29 for a Summer Celebration featuring the zoo’s animals. Visitors can greet the zoo’s creatures while learning about the summer season through hands-on activities and displays. Kids can plant their own sunflowers and try their hand at creating summery works of art in a variety of media with the help of local artists.
