Elle Belle Works Hard & Plays Hard At Preschool

Kindergarten teacher reading to childrenIt seems like just yesterday that it was the last day of my first year of preschool, so how can it possibly be my last day of my second year of preschool already? Preschool continues to teach me important life lessons like separating and sharing, mastering circle time, holding jobs, and acquiring essential life skills.

Here are 10 awesome things that I learned this year:

1. Teachers have books, activities and songs for everything we learn about at school. (And I mean everything!): Whether it’s the seasons, dinosaurs, holidays, or animals, there is a book, activity, and song for each and every one and my teachers know them all. Teachers know a lot. They can be teaching us about butterflies by reading a book and then break into song and I almost don’t even notice anymore.

2. Make new friends but keep the old: At the start of the year, I was so excited that some of my favorite friends from my old class were in my new class and to have so many new friends, too. After a super school year with lots of new classmates, I totally upped my friend count. And I made some really special and best friends, too (you know who you are).

3. The bulletin board outside the classroom is there for everyone to see my masterpieces: I love having my art and other projects proudly displayed front and center with my name attached so everyone can see what a stupendous student I am!

4. Eating lunch at school is cool: I get to have a cool, “Frozen” lunch bag, pick what I want to eat, and have Mommy make it–but Mommy isn’t at school to actually make me eat it (and I can trade food with friends).

5. Having a new jobs every day rocks: I love walking into my classroom each day and finding my name on the job chart. My favorite job? The line leader!

6. Handwriting is sometimes not the most fun: I really enjoy writing my letters and working on letter, name, and word recognition but to say some of my friends do not would be an understatement. They get frustrated and there are tears involved. We should really give handwriting time a new name.

7. Free Choice time is the best time: It is the one time I can do whatever I want when I want and thanks to my teachers, I still learn a lot in the process.

8. I expanded my knowledge of myself and the larger world—even the galaxy: I learned a huge amount of incredible material this year thanks to my incredible teachers. I loved learning about my five senses, family, dinosaurs (roar!), seasons, metamorphosis, the universe (constellations are my favorite), and much, much more.

9. We always need to share and cooperate: Even though sharing and cooperating are hard sometimes (like when I am not done modeling the princess costume and building a MagnaTile tower but I have to give someone else a turn), I totally get why they are so important.

10. I love school: I had the best school year and Mommy and Daddy love that I love school! While I am sad that my second school year has come to an end, I can’t wait for back-to-school time in September!
