On October 31, Midtown East’s Halloween celebration for families returns for its fifth year, complete with trick-or-treating, face painting, a spooky photo booth, costume contests, and more. More than 90 local businesses are expected to participate in this year’s celebration (you can map your route here)! Kids ages 12 and younger can pick up their candy bags on the plaza outside 919 3rd Avenue before heading out to collect candy from all different kinds of businesses.
This event has welcomed more than 13,000 families over the last five years. This year, East Midtown is partnering with ‘Ween Dream, a nonprofit that provides free costumes to kids who are facing challenges such as homelessness, special needs, the foster care system, and kids who have experienced a recent trauma or natural disaster. ‘Ween Dream began in 2014 and has provided 10,000 kids with costumes in 38 states. You can apply to receive a ‘Ween Dream costume again in August 2020. If you’d like to donate a costume to ‘Ween Dream, head to the organization’s website.
East Midtown businesses participating in the trick-or-treating fun include 58th Street Library, Sherwin Williams, Starbucks, Learning Express Toys, Pick-a-Bagel, Dos Toros Taqueria, Insomnia Cookies, Manhattan Espresso Café, and Kickstand Bicycles. Other than candy, some businesses will be providing cake pops (such as Starbucks!), cookies, and product samples for adults. For a full map of participating businesses you can take your little trick-or-treater, visit East Midtown’s trick-or-treat celebration website.
