If your nagging mother and doctor are not enough to convince you to get a flu shot this year, celebrities and ‘regular’ people are joining forces to encourage immunization.
The “Faces of Influenza” initiative, begun by the American Lung Association, has as its national spokesperson actress Jean Smart, a mother who has diabetes and is in the high-risk group that should receive a vaccination.
Actor Dean Cain, a father and an asthmatic, is also a spokesperson for the initiative The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that children over 6 months, pregnant women, adults over age 50, and adults with such chronic conditions as asthma, pulmonary disease and diabetes, and everyone in regular contact with these people, be vaccinated.
